Okinawa Japan photography group featuring unique pictures of Okinawa
Colorful Ryukyu glass is one of those must have souvenirs when visiting Okinawa, and Onna Glass Studio has just about any type of glass you would like. Set up as a small glass blowing factory with an attached gift store, Onna Glass Studio produces hundreds of masterfully created Ryukyu glass pieces every day. Taking a tour of the work shop allows visitors to see how the craftsmen create there art.
These same craftsmen will show you how to make some of these beautiful souvenirs as part of a glass blowing workshop they offer to visitors. Starting at 1,500 yen for things like cups or try your hand at making some traditional items such as kimono accessories called tonbodana from 1,800 yen. After your items are made it will take 4-5 days to have them delivered, so please allow time for this. Onna glass studio offers a free pick up shuttle bus service from many of the local resort hotels in the Onna-son area. It should also be noted that the staff don’t speak English so if you don’t speak Japanese it is important to bring a guide or Japanese speaking friend with you if you wish to participate in the glass blowing workshop.
