Okinawa Japan photography group featuring unique pictures of Okinawa
During the three days, the Oku Yanbaru Carp Festival many events take place to celebrate Japan’s national holiday know as “Children’s Day”.
The tradition of flying banners and flags in the shape of fish over the river has been growing over the years. These days more than 500 of these carp shaped symbols can be seen flapping in the wind during this Northern Okinawa festival. Other traditional performances take place such as Eisa dancing and a Karaoke competition. One of the more popular events is the farmers market where festival goers can pick up some fresh Kunigami and locally produced items.
