Okinawa Japan photography group featuring unique pictures of Okinawa
Okinawa’s largest pyrotechnics display takes place at Okinawa Expo Park’s beautiful Emerald beach. Each year the sky lights up with over 10,000 fireworks in this impressive hour long exhibition over the East China Sea in Northern Okinawa.
The event is more than just the fireworks as many other activities get under way in the afternoon on the Saturday in mid July. All day there are activities for the kids, bands take to the main stage keeping the massive crowed entertained, and sporting competitions take place on the beach. There are also Traditional Okinawa events like Eisa dancing, Taiko drumming, and Lion dancing demonstrations.
Large crowds really play havoc on the expressway and local roads leading through Nago City and Motobu to Ocean Expo Memorial Park. Expect the trip to take about 2½ hours from Naha City and a little less from U.S. military bases in the central part of the island.
Traffic will be very crowded, so expect longer traveling times
