Ginowan City Okinawa Japan

Ginowan city (宜野湾市) is located in central Okinawa, Japan. With a population of about 88,000 people it is a medium to large city by Okinawa standards. Ginowan was officially founded on July 1, 1962 and is know for having U.S. Military instlitation embedded in and srounding the city.

In recent years this Okinawa city has focused on increasing its profile as a convention and resort area. Hosting large domestic and international conferences in Ginowan’s “Okinawa Convention center” has helped it to achieve this goal. The convention center is also a place to give the people of Ginowan a chance to share their proud culture with the rest to of the world in such events as exhibitions, sports, music and theatrical performances.
